Bouldering for the whole family
At ELYS, young and old climb together. Children from age 3 boulder with an accompanying adult, teenagers train in age-appropriate groups. To get started, there's the family taster course.

Family taster course
Your first moves together
- 60 minutes for children from age 5 with an accompanying adult
- Every 4th Wednesday at 4.30 pm and 4th Saturday at 2.30 pm
- Up to two children per accompanying adult

One accompanying adult may supervise a maximum of 3 children. Bare feet are not allowed in any area.
Two options: supervised by our instructors, or on your own with a private room. Both can only be booked online in the shop, at least 3 days in advance.

How much will the birthday cost?
Enter the number of children – the birthday child counts too. We'll automatically pick the right package.
Accompanying adults are free as long as they don't boulder themselves. If you're unsure about numbers, book the minimum – you can add more children on site up to the maximum.
When can you celebrate?
With instructor: Saturday 9.30–11.30 am or 12–2 pm.
On your own: Thursday and Friday 3–5 pm, Saturday 3–5 pm, Sunday 10 am–12 pm or 3–5 pm.
Unfortunately, other times are not possible.
Good to know
How do we book?
Only online in the shop, at least 3 days in advance – not by phone or email. Payment is due immediately; no payment, no reservation. Our cancellation terms apply.
How many children can come?
Small birthday: 4 to 6 children with one instructor. Large birthday: 7 to 12 children with two instructors. If you're unsure about numbers, choose the minimum – you can add more on site up to the maximum. Unfortunately, exceptions are not possible.
How is the room organised?
With an instructor, you get a large table in the separate event room, available from 20 minutes before the start, for 3 hours in total. The room may be shared – please only decorate your own table. When celebrating on your own, the room is exclusively yours. In both cases, please leave it clean, otherwise a cleaning fee of CHF 100.– applies. Tables in the entrance area cannot be reserved.
Food and drinks?

May we decorate?
You're welcome to bring your own table decorations, but we don't provide any materials. Normal candles are fine, up to a maximum of 12.
Which areas of the gym can we use?
The movement landscape and the New Hall are freely accessible. The Big Hall only from age 13 or with a bouldering licence – the licence is per child and not transferable.
In which language is the programme?
German and English are always possible, French on request.
Children under 13 may boulder in the movement landscape and the New Hall. The bouldering licence also gives access to the Big Hall – an accompanying adult is still required.
How to get the bouldering licence

Prepare at home Read through our gym rules together and talk about safety and behaviour in the bouldering areas.

Test at the counter A short multiple-choice test, taken together with an accompanying adult. Discussing and thinking it through together is explicitly allowed – bouldering is a team effort, learning included. No advance registration needed.

Stamp on entry Once passed, the bouldering licence is saved in the customer account. On entry, the child gets a stamp so our team can see right away that they may boulder in the Big Hall with an accompanying adult.
Who is the bouldering licence for?
For children under 13 who boulder with us regularly, move safely around the gym, know the rules well and take bouldering seriously as a sport. In case of repeated rule violations, our team may revoke the licence – it can then only be regained by retaking the test. The licence is per child and not transferable.
